The United Nations High Commissioner For Human Rights is much concerned about the political situation in Guinea and has asked the military leadership to as a matter of urgency address the phenomenon. Michelle Bachelet, in a statement, issued called on the leaders to reconsider the decision of banning FNDC.Â
Troublemakers will have a hard time with the Guinean authorities and anybody who decides to foment violence will be met with brute force. A soldier who has undergone military training knows how to fight hence, any form of rioting will be quelled perfectly.
The National Front For The Defense Of The Constitution, a pro-democracy group has remained the most recalcitrant of all groups in Guinea. After several attempts and cautioning by authorities to dissuade them from embarking on demonstration, they wouldn’t give in to their quest of seeing the country restored to Democratic rule.
All efforts to restrain them dialoguing proved futile until the transitional government banned them outrightly. Despite the ban, they still defied authorities to protest a few days ago and the security personnel fired on them killing two.
Presently, the UN body is calling for their reinstatement and it is really surprising. The question, however, remains if Doumbouya will grant the UN its request or refuse.?
