The students of Katanga Hall and Conti hall (Unity Hall) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology are currently fighting and destroying lots of properties.
Several vehicles belonging to students and some professors have been vandalized. The clashes began during a hall week celebration of the Katanga hall. Information currently available indicates that the students of Katanga attacked the Conti hall to show their superiority over their arch-rivals.
Conti and Katanga have always competed over which hall is the most powerful of the University. It is sad that they have not been able to find a more healthy way to compete but have rather resorted to violence.
The Police have been called to the campus to help bring the situation under control. Not quite long similar unrest happened at the University of Ghana, Legon. Legon Clashes
The police are currently on campus trying to restore calm. Some people have also called for the traditional halls to be relooked at and a lasting solution found to prevent future incidents.
