The decision to travel to Turkey have gone bad for Ghana Premier League champions as they have officially cancelled the trip, explaining that the cancellation is as a result of delays in visa acquisition.
In a quick move, the Kumasi-based side will be traveling to Sudan for the second phase of their preseason. Asante Kotoko will leave the shores of Ghana on August 21, 2022 and will be in the African country till September 1, 2022.
Asante Kotoko will also be playing friendly matches with opponents that are billed for this year’s CAF Champions League.
Asante Kotoko have already started the first phase of their preseason in Accra, Ghana, at the time that club officials were working around the clock to acquire visa for the trip to Turkey. After commencing their off-season activities in Accra, the club went ahead to play preparatory games and won convincingly.
The trip to Sudan, if fulfilled, will help the club to acquire a proper outlook for the upcoming season. Asante Kotoko will be playing in 2022/23 CAF Champions League after winning the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League. They have been drawn against RC Kadiogo. The club is yet to appoint a substantive coach following the resignation of coach Prosper Ogum.
