Former President Mahama Reportedly Settles Remaining GHC100,000 For Sofoline Mosque Land

The holy book says “better is the hand that gives, than the one that takes.” In other words, there is more blessings in giving than to receive and former President John Dramani Mahama has done pretty well.

A post on Facebook by Peace Dawah Media, a charitable Muslim foundation has it that the former leader paid a whopping amount of GHC100,000 for the acquisition of land at Sofoline purposely for the construction of a central mosque.

According to the peace Dawah Media, the land was given to the Muslim community by Ghana’s first President, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. Somewhere along the line, a new person bought the land and had legal documentation to that effect.

The new owner was confronted several times until he finally agreed to sell it for GHC280,000 to the Muslim community. So the cost of the whole project was GHC280,000 and the foundation together with its partners was able to raise half of that amount. They had to solicit funds before they were able to raise that amount.

Surprisingly, the remaining amount has been paid off by John Mahama. This kind gesture is very much appreciated by the Muslim community and may God bless him for his kindness.
