Raymond Ablorh, a journalist and a former Manager at Airtel Ghana has lamented that, Togbe Afede a former Council of State member was never praised by Ahanta Chiefs for refunding his ex-gratia to the state yet they are defending owner of Labianca, who is another council of State member caught in tax underpayment.
In a post shared on his official Facebook page on Saturday, 20th August, 2022, he wrote;
“Togbe Afede was condemned for refunding public funds based on principles and values that you may not agree to.” He said.
Paul Adom Ochere and others vilified the revered traditional leader and former Council of State member for refunding monies we paid him.
“Now, another Council of State member, the owner of Labianca has been caught in a tax underpayment scandal and monies have been retrieved by the office of the Special Prosecutor.
Ahanta Chiefs who never talked about their fellow traditional leader’s good deed and other people are defending Labianca and those involved. Paul is sycophantically quiet.” Raymond lamented.
He alleged that they’re rather castigating the OSP. “Where is Paul Adom Ochere?”
He remarked that the traditional leaders and government appointees defending the Labianca owner, are not been fair.
Background
At a press conference held in Takoradi in the Western region, chiefs of the Ahanta Traditional Council (ATC) jumped to the defense of Madam Eunice Asomah Hinneh and condemned the Special Prosecutor over his report on investigations into corruption allegations against Labianca Company Limited.
The OSP investigated alleged corruption and corruption-related offences in the context of evasion and valuation of duties on frozen and processed food products imported into Ghana between 2017-2021.
Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) managed to recover over GHC1 million GHC1,074, 627.15 from Labianca Foods in unpaid import duties. Raymond Ablorh ‘s comments comes as a background to this.
