The president of the republic of Ghana, Nana Akufo Addo has today, Monday, 15th August, 2022 presented a total of 1,500 motorbikes to the Ghana Police Service. This is one of the commitment by the Akufo Addo led administration to ensure that the police officers in the country are well equipped to provide adequate security to the general public.
The president assured the Police Administration that this is just the beginning. He added that more motorbikes will come in soon to help ensure that every single community in the country benefits from the enhanced community policing model. He also added that government will increase the number of motorbikes presented by government to five thousand (5,000) by the end of next year.
The President took to his Facebook page to drop some pictures of what transpired during the event and the message he gave to the police
“I urged the IGP to help ensure that no community is left out in the distribution of these bikes, even as the Police Service prioritises the areas that are most critical. I entreat officers who will use these bikes to take good care of them but, more importantly, to pay particular attention to their safety and the safety of other road users while on the road” he posted. From the reactions above, most Ghanaians are happy for this positive initiate by the president. They heaped praises on him and encouraged him to keep doing similar work in other sectors of the economy. Others urged the president to recruit more personnel into the service so that it will bring more productivity. Others called for an increment in the salaries of the police.
