Ghana is currently in difficult times as the country seeks to rise from the ashes the economy has found itself in. After a lengthy wait, Ghana decided to seek financial bailout from the International Monetary Fund. However, before this helps comes, the country is in turmoil economically. In barely a week, Standard and Poor and Fitch have all downgraded Ghana’s economy.
Ghanaians have blamed Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia for the economic mess the country finds herself in. The Vice President has been blamed because prior to the 2016 elections he had made a number of promises and vowed to turn around the economy of Ghana. On Joy News Editorial, Araba Koomson threw several questions at Bawumia. According to her, Bawumia was touted a s the best and yet he has failed to impress.
Araba Koomson questioned why Ghanaians are suffering when before 2016 Bawumia had promised to make Ghana a better place. Indeed, Bawumia had bemoaned the state of the cedi and pledged that when he comes to power in he and Akufo-Addo will turn things around.
It’s been 6 years and Araba Koomson questioned the Vice President and flagbearer hopeful of the NPP what happened. She explained that Ghanaians are losing hope in the government and looking elsewhere. She expressed the view that it is not only NDC supporters who are disappointed but also NPP supporters. She called on Bawumia to seek consensus on the current situation to help lift Ghana’s economy.
