Metro TV’s Good Evening Ghana Official page posted the video of Paul Adom Otchere on its heavily followed Facebook platform.
The video was captioned on an editorial presented by the broadcast Journalist about the Ghana card. The caption on the video indicated that NDC’s General Secretary Asiedu Nketia had kicked against using the Ghana card as the main source of identification for the voter to be added to the electoral register.
The post also added that the plan to use the Ghana card for elections has been part of the Nation’s plan since the colonial era through to Acheampong, Kufour and Mill’s era.
The post indicated Paul Adom Otchere’s willingness to provide some historical information supporting the use of the Ghana card as the sole identity card.
Many Ghanaians have reacted to the video as they indicated that the Electoral Commission did not have the authority to decide that the Ghana card should be the sole identity card for the next register.
Some citizens have advised that, once the voters are of sound mind and are Ghanaians, they should not be disenfranchised.
Other Ghanaians have agreed with Paul Adom’s submission in the video as they believe the Ghana Card should be acquired by all citizens for the said purposes.
