Fixthecountry Conveynor Oliver Barker-Vormawor has asserted we should forget the army rather teachers with their large numbers are the most useless of all in this country.
He lamented that a retired teacher who served for 40 years took home only GH¢13,480 as his retirement benefit. He has questioned why teachers failed to support Teacher Kwadwo when he started his FixGES campaign.
In a post shared on his official Facebook page on Sunday, 14th August 2022, Oliver Barker wrote;
“Yesterday, I was speaking to someone. A retired teacher, who had been working since 1978. He went on retirement three years ago. His retirement package? 13,480 Ghana cedis.Â
40 years of work! It came down to 13,480 cedis. 40 years oo.Â
Yet when Teacher Kwadwo started #FixGES, he received little support from teachers. Young teachers failed to understand that this was their moment for revolution. Their chance to change their profession forever was let slip.”
“Forget the Army, Teachers with their numbers in this country, are the most useless of all.” Oliver Barker declared.
Michael Owusu Afriyie , popular known as Teacher Kwadwo was sacked by GES in 2021 after citing indiscipline action by him. People are of the view that, he was sacked because of his continues lambasting of GES to fix the education system.
Many teachers have also complained about how meagre their salaries and pension benefits are. Some say that an article 71 holder’s ex- gratia for 4 years is more than teachers entire retirement benefit.
