Photos as Ga natives hits the streets of Accra.

Homowo is a harvest festival celebrated by the Ga people of Ghana in the Greater Accra Region. The festival starts in the month of August with the planting of crops before the rainy season starts. During the festival, they perform a dance called Kpanlogo.

The celebration usually takes place in August, rarely in July or September. It is believed that the whole of Accra celebrated the Homowo Festival in 1888 as late as the 27th or 29th of September.

Twin borns are the representatives. They clad themselves in white and trail on the streets of Accra especially Jamestown, Ablekuma, Korle Bu and so many Ga vicinities. They believe in speaking to the Gods with this act.

Libation is however poured before they began. Early this day, mashed boiled yam with read oil and egg are prepared to serve the gods for massive protection and kindness to the community.
