The Trustee Incorporation Act 1962, Act 106, which was formed in December 2005, led to the creation of the Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF).
The Trust Fund’s goals are to support and assist the national principles expressed in Articles 25 and 38 of the 1992 Constitution, as well as to provide the financial resources necessary for the Trust to be managed effectively for the benefit of students.
On Wednesday, August 10th, 2022, the Students’ Loan Trust Fund posted on their official Facebook page to clarify a piece of false news which is circulating on social media concerning the cancellation of the Teacher Trainee Allowances. This prompted the management of the trust fund to release a letter to address the rumour. In the letter, the Trust Fund indicated clearly that the trainee allowances had not been cancelled.
The letter was posted:
MEDIA RELEASE
TEACHER TRAINEE ALLOWANCES HAVE NOT BEEN CANCELLED
The Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) takes note of a fake text message making the rounds on social media, claiming that teacher trainee allowances have been cancelled.
We would like to inform our stakeholders, particularly teacher trainees, that the information is a fabrication.
the SLTF continues to disburse the allowances on behalf of the Ministry of Education. We urge stakeholders to verify the authenticity of information purported to come from SLTF on our website (www.sltf.gov.gh) or our call centre (0302751020)
Thank you.
