It seems the greatest achievement of this government is free senior high school and Ghana Card. The Ghana Card is a good initiative, the best this government has implemented so far. Once people can be traced and activities tracked, it helps widen the tax net, reduce fraud, etc. We will probably appreciate it more in a few years and its relevance would be felt subsequently.
If during electoral campaigns we were only promised the Ghana Card, there wouldn’t be anything to complain about. However, we were promised plenty of things and surprisingly Vice President Bawumia’s proposed solution to the economic crisis was seen as the best and it is based on that many voted for this government.Â
However, People are struggling to survive now, fuel seems to be increasing and there is a myriad of other issues from school feeding to impending strikes from essential workers. It would be ridiculous to pat yourself on the back for an initiative that doesn’t solve the current crisis we find ourselves in.
National Democratic Party bigwig is concerned about the increment in cement prices and entreated Dr. Bawumia to give the Ghana card to manufacturers to ease their burden.
This statement seems sarcastic and it might be a reaction to the vice president’s assertion that he would choose the Ghana card over 1000 interchanges.
