Thorsten Owusu Gyimah is a 19-year old secular musician. He is popularly known as Yaw Tog. Yaw Tog is known for his trending rap songs that took over the air waves two years ago. In fact, his debut was made whilst he was in Prempeh College, one of the best senior high schools.
It is important to note that Yaw Tog won several awards for his talent and creativity. He was the talk of ‘kumerica Hip-hop’ until few months ago. In fact, he has been missing in action.
On Wednesday,10th August 2022, Yaw Tog stormed the studios of TV3 to make some wild statements. According to the teen superstar, he was missing in action because he was battling a lot of things. When asked for details, he explained that due to envy, one of his friends attacked him spiritually.
He revealed that he has overcome that spiritual battle due to constant prayers and he described that friend as a ‘fake’ one.
Well, Yaw Tog’s comments can best be described as wild because they are remarks not made of the ordinary. Just like animals are described as wild when they are found in the forest, Yaw Tog’s comments are not earthly or normal. They are not physical comments. His final remarks was that he has learnt to pray ten times more than he used to pray due to what he encountered.
How did his comments about the ‘spiritual attacks’ turn down social media? It is an undeniable fact that Facebook is for fun or entertainment stuffs. Aside that Facebook is for the society to communicate on important aspects of every day Life. Besides, Yaw Tog represents entertainment but his comments were exactly the opposite of entertainment as various commentators had to go deep into their private lives to advice him to hold on to the faith and help those who assisted him to be successful.
Many Ghanaians have reacted to the comments by Yaw Tog. Their comments were not the usual hypes as some concerned music lovers told him to quit music if he is not ready to spend time to pray.
Interestingly, other Ghanaians encouraged him to continue to release more quality songs despite the challenges that confront him.
What are your thoughts on the ongoing discussion? Should Yaw Tog confront that fake friend who attacked him? Should the Superstar continue to relate well with that ‘fake’ friend or completely ignore him?
