Asante Kotoko to face Burkinabe champions RC Kadiogo in CAF Champions League preliminary round

Ghana Premier League, GPL champions Asante Kotoko have been drawn against the champions of Burkina Faso in the preliminary round of the 2022/23 CAF Champions League competition.

The Porcupines will be away in the first leg encounter to Rail Club du Kadiogo of Burkina Faso.

The draw for next season’s competition was held at the headquarters of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Tuesday afternoon.

Asante Kotoko will travel to Ouagadougou for the first leg tie on the weekend of September 9-11 before hosting the Burkinabe champions in the second leg fixture at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi a week later.

The draw as announced by CAF, said, the winner of this preliminary tie will face the winners of the game between Botswana’s Gaborone United and AS Vita Club of the Democratic Republic of Congo in the second round of the qualifiers before the group stage of the competition.

Asante Kotoko will be seeking to make the group stage of the campaign for the first time since the 2006 edition.

The Porcupines who are two times winners of the competition, will fancy their chances of getting past RC Kadiogo who will be making only their second appearance in the CAF Champions League since debuting in 2006.
