Interdict Duadaso SHTS principal and three other people for indulging in exam malpractice- Eduwatch

The Director-General of Ghana Education Service has been urged by Education Think Tank and Africa Education Watch to detain Mr. Peterson Aning, headmaster of Duadaso Senior High Technical School, and three other individuals for their role in the 2021 WASSCE misconduct.

The other suspects are Mr. Abdellah Umar, Assistant Headmaster Academic, Mr. Emmanuel Peh, Senior Housemaster, and Mr. Maxwell Armah, Science Tutor.

This call was made in response to a Corruption Watch study that exposed a massive system of examination fraud in the 2021 WASSCE.

It revealed, according to school officials, collaborating with examiners to oversee widespread candidate fraud, accepting and grading students who pay a fee for continual assessment and using professors to answer test questions and sending the answers to applicants via WhatsApp platforms under management supervision.

In response, Eduwatch applauded Corruption Watch for its investigative video on the 2021 WASSCE in a release dated August 4, 2022.

They demanded “a full-scale inquiry into the activities of this examination malpractice syndicate at Duadaso SHTS to identify all workers engaged and implement the required punishments,” in addition to calling for the requisite fines.

Withdraw the approval of All for Christ SHTS, a private SHTS that has earned notoriety for being a significant hub for examination fraud in Ghana, in accordance with Section 42(b) of the Pre-Tertiary Education Law, the statement said.

It also demanded that the results of the inquiry into the matter be made public.

In a separate request, Eduwatch requested that the West African Examination Council “withdraw and re-investigate the 2021 WASSCE results of all candidates of All For Christ SHTS, taking into consideration the additional information revealed in the Corruption Watch video.

Until thorough investigations into the behaviour of all personnel at that institution are finished, WAEC should “exclude any teacher from Duadaso SHTS from invigilating at the next 2022 WASSCE.”

Permanently revoke All For Christ SHTS’s certification as an examination facility, the announcement said.

In addition, it was requested that the Police Service “identify and investigate the Police Officers who were deployed to Duadaso SHTS and All For Christ SHTS on September 13 and 20 during the conduct of the English Language and Mathematics examinations and make findings public.”
