The Smile Of A Top Journalist Fades As Death Launches An Eternal Separation

Sad day for Ghana and the entire journalism fraternity as one of Ghana’s top journalists loses. Wife. Seldom do such events happen to shatter the order of things.

Bernard Avle is a Ghanaian media personality who works with CITI FM and CITI TV. Born May 20, 1981, Avle hails from Dzodze in the Volta Region.

He is widely regarded by many as one of the best Ghanaian journalists of his generation and possibly one of the greatest of all time.

Bernard Avle was awarded best Ghanaian journalist in 2017 by the Ghana Journalists Association.

When many returned to Ghana CITI FM was where they honed a choice to be public intellectuals. Citi FM was on the cusp of breaking through the urban radio space.

He took the Morning Show console by storm. He nibbled steadily at the knobs his stiletto sharp mind (nurtured fundamentally at UG) landing the crushing blows. I think he broke Joy FM’s hegemony.

Ghanaians have memories of countless interviews and watched from the wings as he married and made a home. I mean I can say Ben is a very good man; straight as an arrow and patriotic to a fault. I thought he sure was going to be a good husband and father and sure he is.

We sit here pondering as the great trees sway to the breeze in nonchalant steadiness. The inscrutable universe and God. The Great Yaw Adjei will always remind us: “man the masterless man.” And the other famous one of his rendered unmissable Akuapem Twi : “wiase ye ya oo.”

We are reminded every day of our wretched mortality alas and Camus’s refrain” the primitive hostility of the universe rises across millennia to confront us.”

“Aloski” Bernard Avle we have nothing to say but to weep with you. To share with you your pain. This should not happen to a good man.

To your Clan and Allied ones my deepest commiserations and that of my wife Sylvia and family. We love you man upstanding valiant patriot, this hitting you too tough.

May God bear us all up. Justine, repose in perfect peace.
