Decision Gone Wrong For Asante Kotoko Management As New Jersey Changed For 2022/23 Season

Ghana Premier League champions Asante Kotoko have rescinded the decision to emboss the picture of the club’s patron on their jersey for 2022/23 season. The Kumasi-based side and their kit manufacturer have made changes to the earlier jersey published for the season.

Asante Kotoko – few days ago – made public their née jersey which had the picture of Otumfou Osei Tutu II. The announcement was greeted with varied response as many kicked against the decision with reasons.

Club owner of King Faisal, Alhaji Abdul Karim Gruzah told Kessben sports that management must reverse the decision to emboss the club’s patron picture on the jersey because of his status. He sees the decision as one that does not conform with the way things are handled in the Ashanti Kingdom.

Others who are in favor of the decision cited why they backed Asante Kotoko management to go ahead with using the picture on the jersey.

Reports were rife that the management had been summoned by the palace, ordering the management to reverse the decision.

Asante Kotoko have confirmed the changes.

“We have after further considerations in collaboration with Errea amended our 2022/23 Kits.” Asante Kotoko wrote on their official Facebook page.
