There’s No More Dumsor, What We Have Now Is “Sor Kikim” – Energy Minister NAPO

Minister of Energy, Mathew Opoku Prempeh says the Akuffo-Addo led Government has done more to stabilize the power situation in the country than its predecessor.

The Energy Minister, popularly referred to as Napo, says the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has moved the power situation from the “Dumsor” it inherited to “Sor Kikim”, meaning stable power at all times.

Some Ghanaians have in recent time complained about the incessant power cuts in their homes and have even called on the Electricity Company of Ghana to publish a power rationing timetable in order for them to plan their lives.

However, speaking on Asempa FM last Tuesday, Napo explained that since the NPP assumed office lights go off only when maintenance works are ongoing.

“For the four years President Mahama was in power and the six years Nana Addo has been President comparatively who has done well? He quizzed.

“A woman told me that I’ve done so well, I questioned why and she said even when there are storms and it’s raining she has light. We have moved from Dumsor to Sor kikim”, he further explained.

He said they are still not done with the maintenance work and so people will occasionally experience power cuts in their homes.

“The dum siesie [maintenance work] is still on course because we are not done with the work we have to do. We met with the whites and we discussed the bulk supply we have to put in Ashanti Western Region. After doing it haven’t we seen the benefits?” He rhetorically asked.

“Everyone has seen the improvement so far. There were lines that had not been changed for the past 50 to 60 years. Now our population has increased and so the lines cannot accommodate all of us. Ghanaians have seen the benefits of the dum sie sie”, he concluded.
