Ghanaians have been hearing of news of kidnapping of large number of people but the country hasn’t really experience anything of that nature till today. Tough the country experienced some few issues of kidnapping in the past.
Latest information gathered indicates that a group of suspected gunman kidnapped over 50 women. According to the report, the women were kidnapped while working at a groundnut farm at Mempeasem in the West Gonja Municipal of the Savannah region.
The report from onuaonline further indicated that, the town folks got to know of the issue of the kidnap through the noise made by some of the kidnapped women while they were being taken away by the gunmen.
The regional Security Council has deployed heavily-armed joint police-military team to the area to rescue the women. Meanwhile, one of the suspects was arrested and handed over to the chief the by the town folks. He was said to have disguised himself in a ladies apparel.
The report stated that “The screaming from the women got some Mail farmers who immediately mobilised to rescue the women. One of the suspected kidnappers a male, but dressed like a female was overpowered and arrested by the locals search party and handed him over to the chief of the community.”
