Some Of Us Are Eating ” Gari Soakings” Without Sugar – Newly Posted Teachers

“… at times, some teachers have to eat cassava without even stew and others, too, have turned theirs into Gari i.e. soakings without even sugar which is very pathetic”

These are the voices of some frustrated newly posted trained teachers employed by the Ghana Education Service (GES) in February 2022 but have not received their staff IDs nor salaries until now.

In a press statement released by a newly formed pressure group made of newly posted teachers recruited in February 2022, and sighted by Bricy Boateng, it narrated how things have become hard for them as they keep waiting to receive salaries months on months amidst silence by the government.

“ In fact, how do you expect a newly posted teacher who has travelled to a

different village and town to survive? At times, some teachers have to eat cassava without even stew and others, too, have turned theirs into Gari, i.e. soakings without even sugar which is very pathetic.” the statement noted.

The Newly Trained Teachers Forum (a pressure group) also mentioned that if the GES fails to release the full list of staff IDs in the third batch, they will resort to demonstration.

“Looking at the situation in Ghana, these newly posted teachers have been left to their fate to suffer for no reason, and it’s all in the name of staff IDs. Until when will the staff IDs be released for third batch to do biometric and then get paid or the people responsible for generating the staff IDs are not working or what’s going on? Pay newly posted teachers now! Seven months suffering isn’t our portion. Press conference and demonstration soon.”
