The president of the land has the power to appoint judges to the high court and the apex court of the land, the Supreme Court. However, in recent months many of these noble persons who are well versed in the law have been selected to serve as judges in the various law courts across the country.
Strangely, some of them have publicly displayed the political parties they are affiliated with. With others going as far as contesting as Parliamentary or national aspirants of their party within their respective constituencies.
Critics are, however, concerned with how the Supreme Court is inundated with persons who have shown their political colors and how objective they would be in the pronouncement of judgment. In addition, if a judge is presumed a staunch supporter of any of the political parties, will there still be faith in the Justice system of the country?
Alex Kweku Asafo-Adjei, the deputy communication director of the National Democratic Congress has observed the new appointment of Ernest Yao Gaewu to the supreme court by the President.
Before that, the renowned Ho-based attorney was appointed as a High court judge in 2020. In 2022, Akufo-Addo has to promote him to the Supreme Court.
