Mr Ernest Yao Gaewu, stood on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to contest the Ho Central Seat during the 2016 general elections. After his loss, he was later appointed as a high court judge and now the President is seeking to promote him as a Supreme Court Judge.
The President in a letter to Parliament yesterday is seeking Parliamentary approval which is the final stage for the endorsement of for his appointment.
A letter dated 25th of July 2022 from the Jubilee House noted that as a “result of the pending and projected vacancies in the supreme court this year, the Judicial council advise me on 4th July 2020 by letter under the hand of its chairperson, Chief Justice Anin Yeboah, of the suitability of my nominations for appointment to the court of the following persons in accordance with article 144 (2) of the Constitution of the Republic.”
He is therefore seeking Parliamentary approval for the 4 persons Justice Ernest Yao Gaewu as Justices of the Supreme Court.
