GAA makes adjustments to the men’s relay team at the Commonwealth Games.

In order to compete in the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, the United Kingdom, the men’s 4x100m relay squad from Ghana Athletics Association has been required to make two changes.

The five-person squad that participated at the recently concluded World Athletics Championships had to be changed when one of the members encountered difficulties obtaining a UK visa and the other decided to withdraw for personal reasons.

In contrast to the reserve athlete, Emmanuel Yeboah, who ran the third leg of Ghana’s record-breaking foursome, Joseph Manu requested to be excused from the competition for personal reasons.

Due to the aforementioned factors, the GAA decided not to enter the pair for the Birmingham Games; this decision was reached even before the world championships in Oregon began.

The GAA is sending in local athletes Abdul-Rasheed Saminu of the University of Ghana and Barnabas Agerh of the University for Development Studies in their place.

The team pledged to return from the Commonwealth Games with a gold medal after breaking a record there (38.07).

The dates of the 2022 Commonwealth Games are July 28–August 8.
