The Member of Parliament for North Tongu, honourable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has asked how long the government will keep running away from accountability.
According to him, there was no mention of some amount of money which was unlawfully withdrawn by the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta himself to fund the National Cathedral project.
In a Twitter post on Tuesday July 26, honourable Ablakwa stated that “Ken Ofori-Atta did not say a word about his unconstitutional withdrawals of some GHS200million from the Consolidated Fund for the infamous US$400million National Cathedral.”
To him, the budget review which was presented yesterday at Parliament should have at least said something about this huge sum of money withdrawn for the National Cathedral project and the way forward, because the project has been stalled for sometime now and noone knows the Fate of it.
Again, since the president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, sees the National Cathedral project as his priority of priorities, the budget review should have address it as well.
Since this was not done by Ofori-Atta yesterday, the law maker for North Tongu says the government is running away from accountability. He does not want to tell Ghanaians what they used the GHS200milion withdrawn from the consolidated fund for, therefore he quizzes
“How long will govt keep running away from accountability and what is the real fate of the stalled project?”
