The Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta in his mid year review in parliament today announced that the Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) programe which handles about 100, 000 post secondary graduates will end on September 1st.
“Mr. Speaker, our iconic National Builder’s Corps (NaBCo) programme, which was initially to run for three years and extended for an additional year, will be completed by 1st September 2022.”
Meanwhile, for many months now, the salaries of these NABCO people have been in arrears but nothing was said about it by the Finance Minister in his delivery.
What should have been addressed was when their salaries will be paid to them as they have called on government for sometime now for their monies.
Given this, Honourable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa in a tweet has said that the Akufo-Addo government must be told in clear language that it is most unfair for Ken Ofori-Atta to simply announce the death of NABCO without providing any assurance on when the many months salary arrears would be paid. fr
It is very unfair to announce the death of NABCO without the date for the payment of outstanding salaries.
