Just In: Road Tolls Has Been Reintroduced By The Finance Minister

One of the justifications put out by the Finance Ministry and the government at large for introducing the electronic levy was that there will be the abolishment of the collection of road tolls on all major roads of the country. The additional reasoning they gave out for abolishing the road toll collections was that it will ease and reduce the traffic congestion on major roads which further leads to increased production. And in the long run, leads to an increase in GDP.

Today, however, the government, through the Finance Minister has announced that from now, they are going to reintroduce the collection of road tolls. This caused the Members of Parliament, especially from the minority caucus, to react massively.

The Finance Minister explained that the collection of the road tolls will be done on newly constructed roads. According to him, revenues from these toll collections will be used to facilitate infrastructure development on these roads and also repay investors.
