Ghana Premier League giants Accra Hearts of Oak have paid tribute to former board member Professor John Evans Atta Mills. The late President of the Republic of Ghana served Accra Hearts of Oak before his demise.
“Remembering our late former President and Chairman John Fiifi Attah Mills. 10 years ago you left us and we will always remember you in our hearts. You may be dead, but we never say die until your bones are rotten.” Accra Hearts of Oak wrote on their official social media handles.
Ghanaians across the world are grieving over the demise of late President Atta Mills as they make a decade of his death.
Whiles he was alive, Professor Atta Mills contributed his quota to the development of sports in Ghana. In his early life, Professor Atta Mills was active player of hockey and other sporting disciplines. He went on to play for national hockey team and remained a member of the Veteran Hockey Team until his demise.
His love and commitment towards sports pushed the academic and politician to openly serve Accra Hearts of Oak as a chairman. He was a member of the Ghana Olympic Committee.
As head of state, Professor John Evans Atta Mills received CAF-Glo Platinum Award in 2009, for commitment and contribution to sports and football development in the country.
