These Memorable Words From Late President JJ Rawlings Has Finally Been Fulfilled

The late Former President; Jerry John Rawlings also called J.J. Rawlings, was a Ghana Politician and a Military Leader, born on June 22, 1947.

During his days of leadership in 1979; and between 1981 to 2001, the Late Rawlings was feared by many; because of his military background; though naturally; he was friendly, lovely, jovial and caring.

JJ was a type of leader people love to listen to; not for anything…but for his powerful and jovial comments. He is one of the Giants leaders, the African continent has ever experienced.

Today, two years after his death, the Late Former President JJ Rawlings, is being remembered by many Ghanaians; not only for his exceptional leadership, but also for his advises, inspirational comments, and powerful quotes.

The late JJ, is known to have made many great and inspiring quotes; but the most powerful one, that sounded like a political warning, or a prophesy, has been fulfilled today; especially under the NPP-led Nana Addo NPP.

The quote which says; “the most dangerous mistake of any political force (party), is to forget its roots”; has revealed almost everything happening in the ruling New Patriotic Party government today.

The New Patriotic Party, formed in July 28, 1992; is a party that stands to liberate the energies of the people, for the growth of a property-owning democracy in Ghana.

The party believes; that each citizen in Ghana has the right to life, freedom and justice, as the principles to which the Government, and laws of the land should be dedicated, in order specifically to enrich lives of each and every citizen in the party and the entire nation.

One major characteristics that can be traced to the ‘Root’ of the New Patriotic Party; a characteristics that has always been with the party since its ‘birth’ in 1992, is Peace and Unity.

The NPP for years is known for its peace and unity. The party believes in freedom and prosperity to all; and it is this characteristics that binds it from 1992, until recent times, when things started falling apart, under this current leadership.

The recent state of the party has revealed that, the NPP under the current dispensation has totally forgotten its ‘root’; and also, it could be clearly seen, that before; during and after the NPP’s Annual National Delegate Conference 2022; there were many ‘twists and turns’, detected among the top executives and the grass root members.

Again, the party since its beginning was never known for any tribalism or factionalism; today the NPP under the current leaders, has been divided into many different factions, the ‘Bawumia Faction’, the ‘Alan Cash Faction’ and others.

The tribal lines detected in the party, also includes the ‘Ashantis’, the ‘Akyims’ and the ‘Northerners’.

These were also echoed by former President John Agyekum Kufour, when he said, ‘…he does not believe that, the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) benefits from factionalism; and that, factions in a political party reduces the numbers of the party”.

Former President Kufour again stated that, “I wouldn’t know any genuine leader, who will benefit from factionalism. Because democracy is about head count, numbers. We had 169 seats in parliament, but because of factionalism our numbers reduced from 169 to 137; and you say you have benefited. Then, I will suspect your commitment to the tradition”.

He added that, “Because democracy is all about numbers, factions threatens the survival of any political party; no one in leadership position will endorse such development”.

All these factions and tribalism in the New Patriotic Party-NPP, is reducing the numbers of the party, and will soon destroy all its dreams as the late former President JJ said, “the most dangerous mistake of any political force, is to forget its roots”.

This powerful quote from the late JJ Rawlings; though just a quote, is a true political prophecy…that is working in the ruling New Patriotic Party today.
