The distribution of money during any political activity has become the norm in our society, and many don’t see it as a big issue. Despite it being a criminal offense to bribe anybody during an election, the majority downplays the seriousness of the vice. It doesn’t come as a surprise to several Ghanaians when millions of cedis are shared with delegates to inform their decision.
At the Accra sports stadium, various delegates from the 16 regions gathered on the field to cast their votes in electing national executives. The several aspirants contesting for various positions had invested in their campaigns and nobody was ready to bow out. In the end, the delegate chose those who they believe to be capable of managing the country’s resources.
Mahama’s aide has made some serious allegations about the just-ended National delegates conference. It is not unusual for aspirants to give incentives to voters but to do it in broad daylight is an issue of concern. He alleged that this money ledger was from the Oti delegates and within it contains the names of certain individuals with the money received.
