Sarah Adwoa Safo, a representative for Dome-Kwabenya, has spoken out about the difficulties she is having within the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).
She claims that she is the target of an ongoing political witch hunt being conducted by certain members of the NPP and Parliament to further their own narrow political interests.
Ms. Safo expressed shock at the disparate treatment she has received from people, party members, as a result of her absence from work to attend to personal matters involving her child.
She expressed surprise that she had not received the renowned support of her party’s leadership in Parliament and at the party level during her most trying times.
In a Facebook post congratulating the party’s newly elected National Executives, the Gender and Social Protection Minister made the comments.Â
She stated that she had sacrificed a lot for the NPP, her family, but she is now being labeled a traitor, and that “there are schemes to remove me from my position as MP and Minister.”
The Dome-Kwabenya MP was baffled as to why some NPP lawmakers treated her poorly rather than defending her as they had done for a minister colleague who had skipped almost two years of session for a related reason.
The theme of the recently concluded National Delegates conference, “Holding Together, Working Together,” was mentioned by Madam Safo as embodying what adherents of the Danquah-Busia-Dombo Tradition must do and stand for.
“It’s important that we continue to be one. We need every single person and vote in our lone effort to break the eight. We cannot abandon anyone, she continued.
