Are Politicians An ATM, Employment Or Scholarship Agency? – Kofi Asare Blast Attitude Of Ghanaians

The Executive Director of Africa Educational Watch (EduWatch) has quizzed whether politicians are ATM, employment or scholarship agencies. He is of the view that Ghanians shouldn’t support a politician because of a personal job, cash or scholarship benefit but rather support a system that benefits all.

In a post shared on his official Facebook page on Tuesday, 19th July 2022, he wrote;

“I did not vote for him because he did not get me a foreign scholarship when i needed one’-a delegate friend at the just ended election.

“I will not vote for my MP again. He failed to get me enlisted into the police service when i approached him’.”

Kofi Asare quizzed that do you vote for people to steal state scholarships and job opportunities for you?  He said that the transactional nature of our democracy vexes him. It breeds hypocrisy, bigotry, and corruption.

Are politicians an ATM, employment or scholarship agency? ” Kofi Asare asked.

How do you feel when the system is corrupted just to give you an SHS admission in a school your ward did not deserve?  If this is why you support a politician, you are an enemy of the state.  He asked.

He advised Ghanaians to know that, anytime the system is corrupted to give you an unmerited advantage, another persons genuine right to that opportunity is denied them. Would you be happy if you were the other person? He asked.

“Look at what our attitudes have turned public sector recruitments into? Look at scholarships? Just look!

 Democracy is not a transaction your survival should depend on. Ours is definitely not democracy. No country ever developed without a meritocracy.” Kofi Asare lamented.
