Legal Practitioner, Lawyer Maurice Ampaw has challenged the stands of the NPP member of Parliament for Assin North, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong on Chairman Wontumi and the other 15 regional chairmen, stating that it’s a big insult to the NPP as a party.
According to Lawyer Maurice Ampaw, the statement by Hon. Kennedy Agyapong that if he doesn’t lead the party as flagbearer for the 2024 general elections, the NPP should forget about breaking the eight “is a big insult to the party.”
He argued that even with these words of Kennedy Agyapong, no one is calling him arrogant and disrespectful yet the mere support by Chairman Wontumi and the other regional chairmen was seen as a crime.
It would be recalled that Hon. Kennedy Agyapong called out Chairman Wontumi and the other regional chairmen for publicly declaring their support for John Boadu in the just ended NPP National executives elections. He noted that they have been embarrassed.
Lawyer Maurice Ampaw has reacted to the statement of Hon. Kennedy Agyapong on Wontumi TV, stating that Kennedy Agyapong similarly told the NPP delegates that if they don’t chose him as the flagbearer, the NPP can never retain power. This he see as the biggest insult on the party.
Lawyer Maurice Ampaw said “You are telling delegates that if they don’t vote for you, no member of the party can win Presidential power. This is the greatest insult to the party. But you see it as a crime that Wontumi and the other regional chairmen supported John Boadu, mere support. Your claim they are arrogant and disrespectful but you have the guts to tell delegates that, if it’s not Kennedy Agyapong they should forget about retaining power.”
