Fake Jubilee House Nurse Dupes More Than 200 Job Seekers

A 28-year old con woman, who presented herself as a nurse attached to the Jubilee House, the seat of the Presidency, and succeeded in swindling more than 200 job seekers of a staggering amount of Ghs1,286, 600.00 has been caught by the police to face the law.

Dorcas Twene Amankwa has introduced herself to Vicky Angela Boadu, an auditor, as a nurse working at the Jubilee House and convinced her that she could use her connections to fix people jobs in the security agencies – Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), Police Service, Prison Service, Ghana Immigration Service (GIS), Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) and other state-owned organizations COCOBOD, Ghana Revenue Authority and the Ghana National Petroleum Company (GNPC) at a fee.

The unsuspecting auditor fell for the bait, and told family members and friends about the deal. In all, 221 people expressed interest, paid to Dorcas monies totaling Ghs1,286,600.00 only for her to go into hiding. She has already appeared before an Accra Circuit Court slapped with 15 counts of defrauding by false pretense.

Dorcas told the circuit court presided over by Patricia Amponsah that she is not guilty of wrongdoing. The circuit court judge granted her bail in the sum of Ghs500,000.00 with two sureties.

She was additionally ordered to report herself to the police every Friday. Dorcas will be making her next court appearance on Wednesday, July 27, 2022.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Emmanuel Nyamekye, presenting the facts of the case said, Dorcas is a trader, based at Nsawam in the Nsawam-Adoagyiri Municipality of the Eastern Region.

She has been faking as a nurse working at the Jubilee House, the seat of the Presidency and through that collected various sums of money amounting to Ghs1,286,600.00 from 221 job seeking persons under the guise of getting them jobs in the security agencies and other state enterprises only to go into hiding.
