Proxy voters from the Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON), totaling around 291 individuals, have been denied the right to vote in the 2022 NPP National Delegates Conference. This is the outcome of an injunction issued against them.
The NPP’s Peter Mac Manu, Chairman of the Election Committee, informed the delegates of this on Saturday. The order prohibiting TESCON proxy voters was received last night, according to him.
“Because of an injunction, our TESCON delegates and local proxy voters, numbering 15 and 291 respectively, will be unable to vote.” “We got the injunction last night,” he explained.
The TESCON President of the Community Health Nursing and Midwifery Training College in Tanoso, Ibrahim Samsideen, one of the displeased delegates, expressed disappointment at the turn of events.
“Let me just say that I’m incredibly disappointed. For someone to travel so far from the Ahafo Region, not just with me but also with my northern ancestors”.
“Looking at that, TESCON is one of the special wings of the New Patriotic Party,” Mr Samsideen stated (NPP). So, if we come here and realize we’re not going to vote, I’ll say we’re really disappointed.”
He also stated that since TESCON, the party’s youthful force, has been removed from the voting process, the portfolios that require votes from TESCON delegates should be removed as well.
The Stadium’s security presence has been increased to calm any potential problems. This year’s Conference is expected to draw a total of 6,166 delegates.
