Monies are being thrown around to entice delegates – Sam George Alleges

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, Sam George, has accused the New Patriotic Party of giving out money for votes.

The New Patriotic Party is holding it’s national delegates conference today at the Accra Sports Stadium to elect its national executives.

Prior to the conference, many predicted the possibility of buying due to previous elections.

Sam George was present to give a good-will message to the New Patriotic Party. In an interaction with the media, the Ningo-Prampram MP noted that he is surprised how a government in power that is complaining of money, is distributing such monies to delegates for votes. Sam George questioned where they go the money from. He also challenged the decency of the the process stating that he expected them to be more decent.

He said “The amount of money that is being thrown around to entice delegates from a party that has moved this country into an economic mess, you would have expected that they would have been very decent. But the accounts we are hearing about monies that are being paid to delegates [are enormous].”

Hon. Sam George also noted that the time the conference was started was poor, suggesting that it should have commenced around 9.00am

Sam George stated “The [NPP National Delegates] conference should have started at 9am; it’s past 12, and the delegates are being held up in meetings with candidates giving them monies. For a government that has driven this economy into a mess, you are asking yourself, where are they getting the money from?” he quizzed.
