Pictorial Evidence Of How Ghanaians Use VAR Technology In Local Matches

Even when Video Assistant Referee, VAR, is yet to be used in the Ghana Premier League, some Ghanaians have adopted a similar thing in their areas. A picture has gone viral on how an area football has adopted Video Assistant Referee, VAR.

In the said pictures, a person is seen standing on the touch line holding a device which looks like television. He is apparently holding it to help the referee make a decision after watching the incident.

Follwing a brief stop, the referee walks to the touch line to watch what has transpired on the field. Whiles coming, there is another person standing close to the one holding television to come come and look at it.

The referee walks to the pitch side whiles players await the final call. He watches the screen for a while and points his hand to the spot. He is later followed by players after making the call.

In Ghana, people have advocated for the use of Video Assistant Referee, VAR, across league centers. The cost involved have made it extremely difficult for the implementation of the technology enhanced devices. VAR was the talk of town when Ghana hosted Nigeria in a World Cup play off. VAR was at full use during that cagey encounter.
