The majority of Ghanaians don’t think any party’s objective should be about winning elections. It should be far from that. What the country needs at this moment is searching for long-term structural solutions to the serious challenges facing the country. It doesn’t matter which party wins the election if sound policies are not implemented.
Nation-building is a collective responsibility of all citizens. If political parties in Ghana’s aim is to win elections then situations may worsen than what we are seeing now.
Franklin Cudjoe has admonished the NDC not to think they will win the next general elections on a silver platter. However, they must work hard to be allowed to lead the country once again. He was also hopeful that this administration would be able to turn things around before the day of the elections.
The NPP has this mantra of “breaking the 8” which at the moment seems like an unsurmountable herculean task. No incumbent has done it before even under better economic circumstances than what we are confronted with.Â
