Convener for the ‘fix the country’ movement Osagyefo Oliver Baker Vormawor has this morning compared the insurrection in Sri Lanka to Ghana. This is after Sri Lanka’s youth became tired of their leaders so they decided to match to the Presidential Villa and their president escaped.Â
The economic hardship was unbearable, the people protested and won without arms. They took over the most secured house in Sri Lanka, entered the bedrooms kitchen, and swam in the pool.Â
These innocent souls were joyfully swimming in their president’s pool, a luxury they possibly have never enjoyed in their lives, and no military men were there to kill them because they know the lives of these beautiful souls are worth more than the president’s swimming pool.
Strangely, the protesters who were in their thousands weren’t confronted by any security men. The military or police who were supposed to have prevented the uprising refused to fire on them. This act according to Oliver shows how human lives matter to culture and here in Ghana less than 100 people, demonstrated and some were killed.Â
He concluded in his writeup: “are we less of a human than Sri Lanka.”Â
