Transfer News: Raheem Sterling to undergo Chelsea medical, Chelsea handed Raphinha Boost

Star to undergo medical as club accepts Chelsea offer

After agreeing to terms with Chelsea, Raheem Sterling, an attacker for both England and Manchester City, is reportedly ready to undergo a medical today.

The England spectacular forward has accepted to a five-year deal with Chelsea worth £50 million, becoming him the club’s highest-paid player ever.

Nonetheless, the Blues are hoping Raheem Sterling can make the trip to the United States with the team for preseason training.

Chelsea handed Raphinha Boost

Mundo Deportivo reports that, following discussions, Barcelona is prepared to grant Ousmane Dembele a new contract at the club. In any case, this helps Chelsea’s case to sign Raphinha. Fabrizio Romano has stated that despite a verbal agreement with the Brazilian forward Raphinha, Barcelona was unable to meet his expectations.

Furthermore, despite weeks of negotiations, Barcelona would rather sign Robert Lewandowski, Cesar Azipilicueta, Marcos Alonso, and Jules Kounde than Raphinha.

Chelsea wants £7 million to sell Azpilicueta

The Evening Standard reports that Chelsea is demanding £7 million for Azpilicueta in response to interest from Barcelona.

The Spanish international has discussed a move to Barcelona with Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel and new co-owner Todd Boehly, and he stands to earn £11 million a season before taxes if the deal goes through.

The 32-year-old, though, has already agreed to personal terms on a two-year agreement with Barca, which would pay him significantly more than his Blues contract.

Furthermore, Chelsea would like to recoup the £7 million they spent to acquire Azpilicueta from Marseille a decade ago, however it is expected that the asking price would be reduced through further negotiations.
