Transfer News: Manchester City to Replace Nathan Ake With A Ghanaian Defender

With Nathan Ake heavily linked to childhood -club Chelsea in the ongoing summer transfer window, it is reported that English champions Manchester City has targeted Ghanaian defender Mohammed Salisu as his replacement.

Per reports sighted on kickgh.com, the Dutch versatile defender is finding a hard time breaking into Pep Guardiola’s first team since joining in 2020 from AFC Bournemouth and following the departure of defence duo Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen –Chelsea sounds an ideal club for more playtime.

And with that being said the “Cityzens” per reports have sighted eyes on the Ghanaian centre-back and are ready to trigger his buy-out clause if Ake ended up at Stamford Bridge this summer.

Salisu, 23, who recently disclosed his readiness to represent his country Ghana in all competitions has been a revelation for Southampton since his move in 2020 from Spanish outfit Real Valladolid for a reported fee of €10.9m.

Last season to recall, he made massive 37 appearances in all competitions, 34 in the premier league, 2 in the EFL Cup and 1 in the FA Cup -keeping 6 clean sheets and was ranked 3rd best in interceptions in the league.

Set to replace Nathan Ake, he is anticipated to cost the Cityzens not less than €15m plus add-ons.
