Isaac Kwame Addae, a graduate of the University of Ghana got the attention of many Ghanaians early this week. The reason was a viral photo of him on the side of the street holding a placard detailing his qualification and his desire for a job. Many ridiculed him on social media while others wished him well. Some also charged him to start something menial since he had hands and could walk. Kwame Addae read Marine Science in the university and has tried after school to get a job related to his study.
Indeed, Kwame got the chance to be interviewed by Serwaa Amihere where he made some interesting revelations. According to him despite the ridiculed and scorn he received on social media he has received a number of offers form some companies. He mentioned that he nearly gave up because of the criticisms he received but was glad his efforts paid on.
One then would have thought that his case will be settled considering the spotlight that Serwaa gave him and his own words of getting about 50 job offers. This isn’t however the case though. Kwame Addae says he happily submitted his CV to the companies but yet to still hear from them. He mentioned that no concrete offer has come yet.
Kwame also said many Ghanaians have contacted him to assist him search for a job but nothing has yet come out of it. Kwame hopes to find a job related to his study or any others that will put food on his take. He relishes that the offers will turn into a tangible job. What will it take to get Kwame employed after these offers? Do we need to wait for him to join wrong associations before he is helped. Many more are out there like Kwame who need help. Many more with no experience and skill have been employed into offices. Are our leaders failing us? We wish Kwame well.
