Abdul Gazale has confirmed that Kotoko will hold their first justify to select 25 Academy players.

Abdul Gazale, the coach of Asante Kotoko’s yet-to-be-formed youth team, has revealed that the club will hold it’s first justify your inclusion exercise for players in Kumasi next week.

The Ghanaian giants, who were previously known for producing top talent for their senior side and various youth national teams in Ghana, have suffered several setbacks in their youth academy system for several years now.

Even though Kotoko’s youth system has been inactive for some time, Michael Ofosu Appiah, Nii Baah, Francis Akwaffo Boateng, Tony Yeboah, Dauda Mohammed, and Sarfo Taylor are all products of the club.

Nana Yaw Amponsah and his management pledged for an Academy side of the club when they took over two years ago. The Ghana Premier League champions want to build a very vibrant youth system and have announced that trials for footballers under the age of 20 will begin next week at the team’s training grounds.

The youth system was closed down some years ago due to financial problems and a series of changes in the administrative structure of the Kumasi-based club.

However, with the current effort to restore the old Kotoko, there are ongoing new developments in the club, the restoration of the youth academy system.

On Wednesday morning, the gaffer who succeeded Maxwell Konadu in February 2021 told Kessben FM Sports, “Our CEO informed me that the budget is ready so we will hold our first justify next week to select about 25 players to start our academy,” Abdulai Gazale confirmed.
