It Will Be ‘Disappointing’ If He Leads Ghana’s Delegation To The IMF – NPP Founding Member Speaks

Ghana’s journey to the International Monetary Fund is one of the most talked about issues in the country. IMF officials are expected in the country today and it is expected that negotiations will start tomorrow. It will be interesting to see Ghana’s team of negotiators and the deal they will come out with. Though simple, the country has a long way to go to get a favorable deal.

Dr. Charles Wereko-Brobbey, a founding member of the ruling NPP has been speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen regarding Ghana going to the IMF. The engineer and former UGM presidential candidate mentioned that he is disappointed but not surprised at how Akufo-Addo has brought Ghana. He explained that he lost interest in the party when it turned from a democratic party to an autocratic one ruled by a few.

Wereko-Brobbey stated clearly that he will be disappointed to see the Finance Minister as part of the negotiators considering his initial stance regarding Ghana going to the IMF. He subtly averred that Ken Ofori Atta has failed and doesn’t deserve to be part or lead those representing Ghana

“He shouldn’t be part of the team. Someone who said he wants to do nothing with the IMF suddenly makes a U-Turn. In the West he should have resigned by now. A good manager shouldn’t be discussing IMF if he had done well. He should be handing over to a better person” Wereko-Brobbey said.
