Check Out Oppong Nkrumah’s Brilliant Answer When Asked If The NPP Will Lose In 2024 Because Of IMF

The weekend has observed so many discussions regarding Ghana’s decision to go to the IMF for financial bailout. The country has witnessed economic failings for some time and many had called on the Akufo-Addo government to seek help, but they refused. However, in a press release on Friday, the government noted that they were ready to sit around the table with IMF officials.

In an interview with Emefa Apawu on The Probe tonight, Sunday, July 3, 2022, a question was posed to Information Minister as to whether the government’s decision to go to the IMF will make the NPP lose the 2024 elections. The international institution is expected to roll out its own measures and cancel some ongoing government projects, a move that will affect the government’s popularity.

In response Oppong Nkrumah explained that the IMF card will not cause the defeat of the NPP. He explained that at the end of the day Ghanaians want to see their situation improving and that is what the NPP government seeks to do by going to the IMF. He debunked claims that going to the IMF will cause their defeat.

Oppong Nkrumah added that the government is focused and will ensure that they put Ghana on the right track by 2024 despite the current situations. He noted that times like this need tough decisions and tough people and they were ready to take the risk to transform Ghana and this means that if going to the IMF will ensure this then so be it.
