My Mother Wants Me To Leave Legon Cities And Play In Iraq Due To My Unpaid Salaries- Eric Antwi

Ghanaian former under 20 goalkeeper Eric Ofori Antwi has told Ghanaians that, he was not able to provide for his mother because he was not getting his salaries from his club, Legon Cities and so his mother advised him to leave Legon Cities and go to Iraq or Pakistan to play.

Eric Ofori Antwi currently plays for Legon Cities as a goalkeeper in the Ghana Premier league. He helped the club to remain in the Ghana Premier league but news from him show that he has not been paid for sometime now.

Antwi is a former Asante Kotoko and Medeama goalkeeper. And he was the first choice goalkeeper for Black Satellites at the 2013 Africa Youth Championship and the 2013 under 20 World Cup.

He helped Ghana to a third place in the 2013 U20 World Cup but his revelation on Onua Sports this morning shows how poor Ghana’s football salary payment system is. Legon Cities has not been paying him for sometime now and this even affected the livelihood of his mother.

On Onua Sports, he said, “My mother called me for money at some point during the season, but I was unable to provide it due to unpaid salaries.”

Eric’s Mother then advised him to leave Legon Cities and find a club in with Iraq or Pakistan to continue his career.

He added, “Mum then advised me to leave Legon Cities.”If I get a better offer in Iraq or Pakistan, I’ll go there. Football is a business.”

This is the second time a Legon Cities’ player has come out to reveal that they have several unpaid salaries. Hans Kwofie revealed this last week and today Eric Ofori Antwi has also added his.
