The women’s version of the Africa Cup of Nations, called the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations starts today in Morocco at exactly 20:30 pm GMT. And the champion of the tournament will go home with an extra $300,000.
The winner of the previous tournament, the Nigerian Women National team earned only $200,000 but today’s news from Confederation Of African Football (CAF) reveals that, the winner will take home an amount of $500,000.
This implies that, an additional $300,000 has been added to the previous prize money. This shows an increase of 150% of the previous prize money that Nigeria took home.
According to CAF President, Dr Patrice Motsepe, the winner of this year’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations will get an increase of 150% of the prize money.

The winner will take home $500,000, the runner up will also earn $300,000, semi finalist will earn $225,000, quarter finalist will take home $175,000, 3rd of group stage will take $150,000 and the fourth of the group stage will earn $100,000.
