The fourth edition of the Ghana Football Awards will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2022 in Accra to honour some outstanding performances during the past season.
It has been scheduled to come off at the Grand Arena, Accra International Conference Center with a host of important dignitaries expected to attend.
Nominees for the various positions are out, and for the footballer of the year award, five names are on the table and, they include Thomas Partey of EPL side Arsenal, Alexander Djiku of French side Strasbourg, Daniel Amartey of Leicester City, England, Joojo Wollacott of English League One side Charlton Athletic and Mohammed Salisu of EPL side Southampton.
For the home-based footballer of the year award, the list includes Augustine Okrah of Bechem United, Yaw Annor of AshantiGold SC and the Asante Kotoko duo of Frank Etouga Mbella and Imoro Ibrahim.
The future star award named after former Ghana international Nii Odartey Lamptey, has three nominees; Felix Afena-Gyan of Italian side AS Roma, Princess Owusu of Fabulous Ladies and Bechem United’s Clinton Dodoo.
The goalkeeper award of the year will go to either Joojo Wollacott, Asante Kotoko’s Danlad Ibrahim or Iddrisu Abdulai of Bechem United.
Nominated for the men’s coach of the year are Asante Kotoko coach Prosper N. Ogum, Bechem United’s Kisim Mingle and Henry Wellington of FC Samartex.
The women’s coach of the year will go to Joe Nana Adarkwa (Ampem Darkoa Ladies), Yusif Basigi (Hasaacas Ladies) and Ben Fokuo of the Black Princesses, (U-20 national team).
Nominees for the women’s footballer of the year are Grace Asantewaa – Real Betis, Spain, Stella Nyamekye – Dreamz Ladies and Princess Owusu – Fabulous Ladies.
The female team of the year will be either Ampem Darkoa Ladies, Hasaacas Ladies or Ridge City.
Asante Kotoko, Bechem United and FC Samartex, have been nominated for the male team of the year award.
The best Club CEO will be awarded to Nana Yaw Amponsah (Kotoko), Kingsley Owusu Achiaw (Bechem United) or Richard Duah Nsenkyire (FC Samartex).
AshantiGold SC’s Yaw Annor wins the goal king award for the 22 goals he scored in the just ended season.
