GES Opens Up Portal For Director 1 Position

The Ghana Education Service has opened up a portal for applications for the position of Director 1.

The GES has therefore called on interested and qualified persons for the position to submit their applications.

The work of the director entails the implementation of government-approved pre-tertiary policies and programmes at the regional or national levels of education at the direction of the Director-General.

Duties

The GES highlighted that Director I is saddled with the duty of providing technical advice on matters relating to pre-tertiary educational policies and programmes; leading and coordinating the implementation of policies, leading assessment and implementation; leading development and implementation of systems for monitoring and evaluation of policies and programmes; exercising oversight responsibility for efficient and effective management of human, material and financial resources of the GES; and ensuring all required reporting requirements of the region or division.

Qualification

The applicant must be a certified professional teacher in the GES.

He must have a minimum of a Master’s Degree in Educational Management or any related field.

An applicant should be a Director II

He should have served a minimum of four years on his current grade.

Also, an applicant must have a satisfactory work history with proven performance and exemplary conduct.

Competencies

An applicant must have extensive leadership, networking, monitoring and management skills; excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills; excellent negotiation, lobbying and conflict management skills; extensive knowledge and experience in pre-tertiary educational policies and related issues.

He must also possess extensive knowledge of the operations of the GES and allied institutions; excellent decision-making and problem-solving; emotional stability and ability to cope under pressure; good knowledge of public financial management laws and regulations; excellent quantitative and qualitative analytical skills; knowledge of relevant IT applications; high integrity, confidentiality, firm and fair; and excellent report writing skills.

Terms of Appointment

An applicant should be able to serve for a minimum of three years on appointment before reaching the compulsory retirement age of sixty years.
