Ahead of Ghana’s next elections, tension in the two main political parties (New Patriotic Party-NPP, and National Democratic Congress-NDC), is getting hotter… as the times also get closer than expected.
Whiles the National Democratic Congress (NDC), are determined to return to power, come January 2025, the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), is also working hard, towards retaining power…which they termed ‘breaking the 8’.
Soon the the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), will be going to the poll, to elect a suitable flag-bearer; who will be leading the party to victory 2024; and to fulfill the party’s ‘breaking the 8’ agenda.
The NPP, since its formation, in July 28, 1992, is known to have produced many great and successful leaders; who represented the party at the various area in the country.
Though there are many qualified people in the NPP, who are capable of leading the party to victory come 2024, currently topping the list in the flag-bear race, are Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Mr. John Alan Kyeremanten (Current Ghanaian Minister For Trade, And Industries), and Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto (Current Minister For Food, and Agriculture).
Currently, in the Ghanaian media and on social media, there are many talks…and suggestions from some Ghanaians; especially from the NPP members, that Vice President Dr. Bawumia is the most suitable person…qualified to take over from President Nana Addo.
We have heard the comments even from some high profile NPP members, tipping Vice President Dr, Bawumia as the best NPP candidate for election 2024; especially against John Mahama who is also from the Northern part of Ghana.
Among these, we hardly hear comments; especially from the NPP hierarchy, recommending the Trade And Industries Minister, Alan Kyeremanten for the presidential race. Also, we haven’t heard much talks, or comments from the Alan Kyeremanten camp, as we do from the Bawumia’s camp.
Almost every day in the news, there are talks from the ‘Bawumia factor’,…or from people who supports the Bawumia’s presidential ambitions; that he is the best suit, for election 2024 because; he is the current vice President, he is an economist, he is from the North (ready to Battle the NDC’s John Mahnama in the Northern territories), and son on.
In all these while, the ‘Alan factor’, has remained silence; and this total silence; in my view is very important as far the the Ghanaian’s presidency is concern.
There is a popular Nigerian proverb that says; “Whatever it was that the cat saw, and blinks its eye off; the dog saw same, and started barking-out loud”. This simply means there is power in silence, and that, serious people dont talk much…but rather; they act more and become victorious.
Serious people are people who shows deep thoughts; and they do not joke in a situation that requires careful thought…because as the old saying goes; ’empty’ barrels makes so much noise.
Alan Kyerematen previous attempt at the NPP’s flag-bearer race against Nana Addo, in 2007, gave him 32.3% of votes cast against Nana Akufo-Addo who gained 47.96% of votes cast.
After 2007 NPP flag-bearer race, Alan Kyerematen made other attempts to lead party in 2010 and 2014; but placed second to Akufo-Addo, at all these times.
Since the formation of the New Patriotic Party-NPP, Alan Kyerematen (who is a founding member of the of the party), has been a leading stalwart and key strategist of the NPP. He has served on the highest decision-making bodies, that shaped the Party’s strategic direction both in opposition and in Government.
Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen ; also known as ‘Alan Cash’, again served on the NPP’s National Executive Committee, (serving as a Member from 1992 to 2001), as well as on the Economic Management Team, and Finance Committee of the NPP. He is also a Founding Member of the Young Executive Forum-YEF, (a powerful advocacy, and lobby group within the NPP Party) which played a major role in galvanizing the professional, and business community, to support the growth and development of the New Patriotic Party.
Considering the hierarchy; in terms who leads leads the NPP to the next presidential elections, Alan Cash is the sure bet, and next after Nana Addo. With all his rich experience in the party (which no other candidate in the NPP comes closer to),…he needs not talk too much; because his rich experience in the party will do all the talking for him.
Alan Kyeremanten went totally silence, because; after all, serious people dont have time for talking….they are busy working towards success. Quality people needs not speak of themselves, because your rich experience will do all the talking for you.
