Current Black Star’s number 1 goalkeeper Jojo Wollacot has earned a move to Charlton Athletic in the 3rd tier of English football. He has moved from the 4th tier side Swindon Town who missed out on promotion narrowly. He was astounding for them in goal last season and was named in the League 2 team of the season.
“Charlton Athletic are delighted to confirm the signing of goalkeeper Joe Wollacott, who was named in the League Two Team of the Season for the 2021/22 campaign. Wollacott has signed a three-year deal with the club following the expiry of his contract at Swindon Town,” his new club announced this evening.
Wollacot has also enjoyed some good form for the Black Stars starring for them in the crucial world cup qualifying game against Nigeria.
I am not so convinced about this move. I would have preferred that he moves to a championship club. The level of competition there will bring out the best in him. I am hoping that he will put out an impressive showing next season to make the step up again to the championship level and probably the premier league.
